What is the shape and design symbolizes Chinese Coin?
I know there are many types of coin used for currency in China, but I'm talking specifically about round coin with square hole in the middle. What this design symbolizes,? I've heard that it means strength and prosperity but I needed a more reliable source, such as Internet. Thanks, help greatly appreciated!. Centuries? OMG! I got one! Crude, I lost it X_x
1. Currency you are talking about is used on ancient times, it ended with two ancient emperors. Does this design symbolize? In the ancient Chinese people believed that the soil / earth, we stood in a square shape and the sky / heaven round above us, which how people feel when they see the sky at that time. in some other version, translated to "circle the sky and the square of the earth", It is an old saying. so that the coin is the abbreviation of the heavens and the earth or the sky and ground, based on ancient beliefs, usually in the form of a round coin, it means paradise, and a square hole in the middle stands for the earth. and today, people still use the word round sqaure and asked him how big this place? but that's just not the dimension of the word, not sure if you understand all this, because of cultural differences and the real meaning may be lost in translation. ask for more in you need more.
